The 50th Annual Day & Golden Jubilee Celebration of Mariagiri was celebrated in a splendid way and its excitement was beyond the words. The programme began at sharp 4.15 PM on 17th January 2016. His Excellency. Mar Mathew Moolakkatt (Metropolitan Arch Bishop of Kottayam) and Sri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Hon. Minister for Forest & Sports graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The V.I.P’s were welcomed by the school band in a wonderful display of movement and colour.
The function started with a glorious prayer song by our school choir. Our school manager Rev. Fr. Joseph Sauriamakel gave welcome speech. Then our school principal Rev. Sr. Thomasin SVM presented the annual report which highlighted the achievements of past 50 years also emphasized the steps initiated for further growth of the school. His Excellency Mar. Mathew Moolakkatt presided over the function. It was followed by the inauguration and an elegant and useful inaugural talk by the chief guest Hon. Minister Sri. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrisnan (Minister for forest and sports). Then the programme followed by the Releasing of Magazine by Smt. E.S Bijimol (MLA, Peermade). Followed by this overall champion ship and proficiency prizes were given away by Very Rev. Fr. Michael Vetticattu (Vicar General). Then there had felicitation of Smt. Kochuthresia Poulose (President, District Panchayath, Azhutha), Smt. Jessy Jacob (Block Panchayat President), Sri. Dinesan (Block Panchayat Member), Smt. Beenamma Jacob (Grama Panchayat Member), Sri. Udayasoorian (PTA President), Rev. Fr. Dominic (President, Mariagiri Charitable Trust), Sri. Saji Pothen Thomas (President, Alumini Association). The highlight of the programme was honouring the staffs by Mar. Mathew Moolakkatt (The Arch Bishop Kottayam). The meeting came to an end with the vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Anish Maveliputhepura.
At the end of the public meeting there was a melodious wonder of school orchestra. It was followed a grand cultural light and sound show ‘KERALEEYAM’ by the Mariagirians. About 260 students were participated in the show, was amazing and really enchanting. Mariagirians impressed everybody with their extra- ordinary performance. The audience were enthralled throughout the evening until the rendering of National Anthem. At last the function came to a halt in a hilarious note around 9 PM.
